INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
KEY POINTS FOR INSTALLATION SUCCESS
Step 1:
Acclimatise
For 24 hrs on site before installation
- Please remove plastic wrap beforehand
- Do not install where substrate temp is under 10°C
- Do not install where ambient humidity (RH) levels > 75%
Step 2:
Allow enough time
Do not lay in wet. Adhesive must achieve tack-off / tack-up.
Time will be dependent on temperature, humidity, airflow and substrate absorbency.
- T240 Place a small piece of carpet or finger into the adhesive. When pulled away, strings or cobwebs should be apparent.
- Modu-Tak PS Allow adhesive film to become “translucent”. Once translucent, the adhesive is in a dry tack mode and ready.
Step 3:
Use correct adhesive and underlays
ROLL & RUGS
DIRECT STICK:
Adhesive: tretford 240
Substrate to tretford – use V2 (2.4mm) notched trowel (3m² per litre)
DUAL BOND:
Adhesive: tretford 240
Substrate to underlay – use V1 (1.6mm) notched trowel (5m² per litre)
Underlay to tretford – use V2 (2.4mm) notched trowel (3m² per litre)
Underlays:
– Airstep BOUNCE 470 – 4.7mm
– Airstep BOUNCE 650 – 6.5mm (Domestic only)
– Dunlop TECHNICS 5 – 5mm
– Dunlop PERFORMA 5 – 5mm
– Dunlop DURAFIT 7 – 7mm (Domestic only)
TILE
- Modu-Tak – apply using V1 notched trowel
PLANK
- Modu-Tak – apply using V2 notched trowel
Step 4:
Upon completion : Do not cover with impervious materials.
TEMPORARY PROTECTION:
Caution:— If impervious protective covering materials are applied over the newly installed product, condensation may collect under the covering and cause serious damage to the textile floor covering and/or bond strength of the textile floor covering to the substrate. ( AS/NZS:2455.1:2019)
