Darebin Intercultural Centre
The Darebin Intercultural Centre was a project that saw Sibling Architecture work in collaboration with community consultation groups, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung elders, and a strong and compassionate team of consultants to create a community-centric space.
Established within the City of Darebin’s Civic Centre, this rich new community facility strives to cultivate meaningful and constructive inter-cultural, inter-racial, and inter-faith relations among the people who live, play, and work in the City of Darebin.
The space breaks away from traditional walls as barriers and instead offers privacy through curtains and operable walls that provide flexibility and encourage users to create ever-changing spaces.
Our tretford Carpet adds to the vibrant material palette which is deliberately used to showcase diversity, to represent a collage of communities harmoniously fitting in together while also cherishing their own identities.
This project also won the Grand Prix, 2023 Dulux Colour Award.
